What did Rougemont look like a hundred years ago? This 1.5 km discovery trail brings the village’s past to life through Louis Saugy’s papercuts and historic postcards.

A postman in Rougemont and a keen observer of local life, Louis Saugy (1871-1953) was one of the pioneers of papercutting in the Pays-d’Enhaut. His works portray everyday life in his time with remarkable detail and humour: women washing clothes at the fountain, card games in the café, traditional means of transport and cattle heading up to the mountain pastures.

Along this family-friendly walk, discover his papercuts alongside postcards from the early 20th century, displayed at the very spots where the original photographs were taken. Compare Rougemont as it was then with the village you see today and have fun spotting what has changed and what has stood the test of time.

Before setting off, pick up your activity booklet at the Rougemont Tourist Office or download it online. Answer the questions, find the mystery word and receive a small souvenir!
